Hi all , Just wondered if anyone has had any re-chroming done , where and at what cost , I have just had a quote for over £6oo each for the bumpers , seems a lot to me , I know you only get what you pay for but really.

Have you had a look at the stainless steel (Indian?) ones. Seem to be reasonable quality.

Hello Baller,

chroming is a labour intensive proccess and has quite stringent environmental regulations these days. Briefly it entails electrolytic stripping of existing plating, rectifying defects and polishing the base metal to a mirror finish, copper plate, nickel plate and finally a chromium plate finish.

Hi Baller
I had a pair of spitfire bumpers rechromed about 4 years ago cost in the region of £950.
So that quote is about right, they were done by S and T chroming near Bristol.
The results were excellent and still look good now.

hope this helps!
