I used the alfa rails, and used a Triumph steel wheel nut as a spacer but had to put a large washer on the floor to spread the weight at the rear mounts. This has worked well. The floor is a little weak in this area. Even as a standard application, the rails sit on a collar to raise the rail off the carpet and the floors crack. A spreader washer would prevent this.

Mine simply had floor, carpet, rail, washer, spring washer, bolt. There were no spreader washers at any point.
So ideally there ought to be some form of spreader between the rail and the car body? I will have to look to adding some.
Any other comments or bits I should have ideally?

Originally there was a spacer of about 6mm under the rails on each bolt. These are often 'lost'. Since my seats use the Alfa runners, the spacer is below the runner and therefore point loading the floor hence the 2" washers below. You may not need spacers if the entire runner is resting on the floor pan. It is actually flat under the seat runners. The only difficulty you may experience is the runners jamming up a bit with the drag and interference from the carpet. If you retro fit the 6mm spacers, I suggest the washers or similar are used.

Has anyone put Volvo 240 seats into a Triumph?

Useful stuff here and some interesting options. Having read this string end to end, no-one seems to talk about refurbishing the existing seats.

I have seen Chris Witor can supply new diaphragms, but does anyone stock the various foams involved?

My other question is whether anyone has used Stag foams? I had my Stag ‘re-foamed’ the other year and they came out really well.

If the Stag foams won’t fit the T2000 seats, could I fit a set of Stag seats in the T2000?

My T2000 is 1971 non-headrest, the vinyl covers are good both front and rear.

All advice gratefully received.

Every upholster I spoke to said they could do the foams (I had asked if was possible to do side bolsters).

The Stag seat is narrower as it is basically a Mk.1 (modified) floor pan and inner wings. The foams could be a fit with alterations or not. You will have to experiment. The seats will fit, obviously, but will need new fabricated brackets. The good thing about the Stag seat is that it has vertical adjustment.

Thanks Kev - that possibly opens a new avenue for me. What I don’t know is whether the Stag seat height can be the same as the 2000 with its height adjustment, or will need boosting up a little.

I think I will whip my Stag drivers seat out and trial fit it in the 2000, although I might just wait until it’s a little warmer :-)

I would guess that the height of the newly fabricated bracket(s) would cover any requirement, albeit in a fairly narrow range. Being a cold blooded reptile I certainly would wait for warmer weather.

Change of direction, got a pair of MG ZT (Rover 75) sports seats for the very best price (free).

The runners are about 1.75” wider, but the seats fit nicely between the transmission tunnel and the door frame. I’ll be removing the built in seat belt catch as the Securon belts have a different shaped tag.
