Is there any difference between the doors on Mk1 & 2?

Hello Tom,
there is a difference internally on the front doors, the door pull or handle locations are different, the wooden capping also is fitted differently, the fixings are hidden on the MK 2. I don\'t believe that there are any significant problems in putting a Mk1 door on a MK 2 or vice versa.

Alec is correct about the differences between a MKI  and a MK2 door. You can fit a MKII door onto a MKI as the pressings are still there to move the door releae handle from the MKII to a MKI type. You would need to drill the fixing holes for the door cappings though.

You cannot (without huge amounts of work) put a MKI door onto a MKII. This is because the cut out in the internal part of the door is not there for the MKII type door release pull. When Triumph changed from MKI to MKII they modified the door pressings but left the original MKI type holes there.

Hope that makes sense!! In summary you can modify a MKII door to fit a MKI, but a MKI door onto a MKII is very difficult. Being as MKII doors are readily available then this does help us!

Hello Alan,
I would think that MK 1 doors in a MK2 would be easy if you use the MK 1 handle arrangement?

Alec,

Yes, if you happy to have the MKI type door release then they will fit staight on with no alteration, just bolt them on and away you go.
But if you want the correct type internal trim then you will struggle!!
