Hi all can anyone throw some light on this 2500 motor advertised here in OZ
My guess is a mofified PI project.

Re: Mystery Motor
It is a facelift 2500 engine originally on carbs and originally mated to an auto box (that's from the engine number), but I can't say what car the added injection parts are from.

Re: Mystery Motor
Thanks mate
the bloke selling it doesn't have a clue and is selling it for parts only so he doesn't know if its a runner, and as its going to cost me maybe 700 quid to get it I really dont know.
Is the injection manifold a modifed PI unit????
It looks as if its set up to run on a stand.
Too much missing as well need the pumps etc. and where's the ECU??
Cheers

Re: Mystery Motor
Looking at the photos, the inlet manifold looks homemade with the injector bosses pointing to the back of the valves. The plenum looks homemade as well. Normally an efi conversion would have a single throttle body on the end of the plenum, not on the side as in the photos, as is, it wouldn't fit in the engine bay. The distributor looks as if it might have the engine position sensor fitted for the ecu, plus it has a coil pack for wasted spark again for use with an ecu. As you say you will need an ecu, something like megasquirt/microsquirt are reasonably priced, I'm using microsquirt on my conversion ongoing at the moment. You will also need a high pressure fuel pump/system. The basics look to be there to make a workable efi system.
Re: Mystery Motor
gday all
apparently it has an AC delco ECU which is GM so it maybe came off a locally built Holden commodore. Maybe!!!!!!!!!!!!!
too many maybes, but I know that someone in OZ has done this with Commodore bits before and made it work.
If your listening out there I'd appreciate some feedback
cheers
