Oil pressure switch thread
Does anyone know the thread on the oil pressure switch?
I am looking for a T-piece/adapter for a metric oil pressure guage sender.

Re: Oil pressure switch thread
Probably 1/8 NPT or 1/8 BSP. Not really much difference at that size.

Hello Phil,
I believe it is 1/8" BSP, as Chris Witor lists the oil gallery plug as that size?

Excellent, thank you very much for the prompt responses.
Re: Oil pressure switch thread

Hello Phil,
yes, that is common.
You could try and remove some of the other blanking plugs in the gallery if you want to add an oil pressure gauge. They too can be tight but a couple of smart hits with a hammer sometimes helps, as is using an allen key socket rather than the usual allen key. You also have a few choices, one may come out easier than others?

Re: Oil pressure switch thread
Allan key socket in an impact driver?
Re: Oil pressure switch thread
I'd go with Alec here, couple of hits and then Allen socket on bar. I would be wary of using the impact driver with the bits I have found they will shatter easier when the impact driver is thwacked.Try and get as short as possibleAllen bit Good luck!

Re: Oil pressure switch thread
Allen key / hex bits specifically designed for impact use would be advisable if using an impact wrench, and I would also use them with hand tools if given the choice. They usually have a black finish whereas standard hex bits have a grey steel finish. Cost a bit more, but worth it for the extra durability and impact resistance.

Re: Oil pressure switch thread
Interesting thought to use one of the other blanking plugs, were it not for the fact that the sender thread is the American one....
When it stops raining, and I have a spare sender unit, I will have a go with mole grips - assuming that this will wreck the current sender.
