Engine suitable

#1 Post by CP Sargent » Sat Dec 28, 2019 4:25 pm

Hi Guys
Just wondering if a engine HC10087E vitesse/ gt6 would fit my 1967 mk1 saloon ? the reason for asking is my engine in the car has low compression on 3and 4 so needs work , the engine in question has already had lots of work done to it and just needs putting back together , whats the best option cheers Pete

As far as I know, HC engines were actually Vitesse 2 litre engines, whereas the GT6 had KC engine numbers.
I was under the impression that GT6 engine blocks can be fitted to a 2000 with no fitment issues - whether a 2 litre Vitesse engine can, maybe someone else can advise, but my initial thought would be yes.
Surely however, Mk1 2000 MB engines are not too difficult to source to keep it as original, or if you wanted it to perform even better, try to source a late Mk1 MC engine. Maybe easier said than done though.....
