gday all haven't posted for some time hope everybody is OK
The 2500S is nearing paint, at last.
However I found these holes when cleaning up the boot. (see pics) They are on the drivers side. Both holes have been covered with what I assumed were factory patches but now appear to be after market or PO/s doing. I cannot discern what they were for. As far as I can tell the car never had any fuel pump mods. Maybe it was for a fuel injection project which never eventuated, maybe pump up shocks but why no holes on the passenger side?
Any clues appreciated
cheers Rod

Re: mystery holes
I have had four 2500S saloons (just one at the moment!), and scrapped probably the same number over the years and none have had holes as shown in the pictures, including the lower one in the lip where the wheel arch bowl meets the boot floor.
They certainly don't look 'factory', as holes like that wouldn't be covered by a plate with self tappers in an area subjected to possible water ingress.
They only possible thought is something to do with any air con system which may have been fitted previously, but having the fittings in the boot....?
I would weld them up neatly and loose them, to be honest.

Gday Johnnydog
yes not BL factory, this one was assembled in aus and I suspect dealers then had options to offer. EG my car has factory air with a primitive form of climate control, probably only offered in aus or maybe South Africa who knows. Not welding patches too much flammable material around, new patches will be fabricated and riveted on
Cheers

Re: mystery holes
If not keen on welding in that area, on a non structural area I would be tempted to make a suitable sized plate, and then fix it in position using Tiger Seal or similar. It will be properly waterproof, and when cured the plate won't be going anywhere!

Re: mystery holes
Similar thing in mine - this 1.5 inch hole is in the driver's footwell behind the pedal.
Can't for the life of me figure out what it might have been for - the car does have AC but that's in the passenger footwell and drains there accordingly.
Ridiculous place for a hole given the amount of water and dirt that gets thrown up in this area. Will get it welded when I get my sill done.
If you figure out what yours might have been for I'd be interested to know

Re: mystery holes
Gday, this looks very rough, just guessing PO did it for something which will forever remain an enigma.
