Rimmers spin on oil filter

#1 Post by Ltriumph » Thu Mar 08, 2018 3:08 am

I have a Rimmers spin on oil filter adapter (TC2000, 1978). Just wondering in NZ which filters fit it?

Yes, it's a Ryco. Others with 3/4" thread and similar dimensions can also be used.

I think it's worth fitting the long kind - it's got more capacity, and is easy to grip from underneath. It's also worth angling it pointing slightly forwards, again so there is space to get your hands/wrench round it.

One of the original filters this adaptor was supplied with was a Coopers Z48 or a Fram ( can't remember the no now), both of which had the non return valve in them. If fitting any other make, make sure they have this valve fitted, otherwise it defeats the object of retaining oil in the oil ways intended with the adaptor and spin on filter.
Some of the shorter filters that do fit, do not have the valve in them.

If filters are fitted vertically I don't see the need for a non return valve.

Fram filter to use is the PH2895 (not PH2895A).
