Dave builds engines so he's not a parts supplier in quite the same sense as Rimmers or Chris Witor, but does have a stock of some parts including some NOS and parts he's had batches of made. If you need something there's certainly no harm in asking, if he doesn't have something I'm sure he can advise who does.
He's a member of the board of the 2000 register (Concours Co-ordinator) so you should be able to email him via the "whos who" section on the main 2000 register site or if you're a register member (or know someone who is), his contact details should also be in the front of SixAppeal magazine.
He also appears frequently on the non Triumph 2000 register affiliated Facebook groups (e.g. "Triumph 2000 2500 & 2.5 PI Fan Group").

Many thanks for info, and what a great forum, really nice assistance given to an non triumph owner although using a triumph engine. I wish I found this much earlier when I started my project and needed the engine rebuilding.

Still better late than never.

Cheers Again

Well gone for the Uprated shaft and a new set of rockers as upon closer examination they were quite worn on the ends, Dave has done a nice deal. Cheers All.

Hi just to say I've installed new shaft and rockers, great service from Dave. All is now good oil coming from all rockers and pedestals, the wear on the old shaft was quite pronounced and the shaft looked to have a lot of old oil and grime stuck in it. I have also noticed that these rockers have a small hole on the top and oil also comes out of these, my old ones did not.

Thanks all for assistance merry xmas

Hi I have now completed my build and have done around 200 miles, however the engine sounds a bit tappetty. I have a Piper ultimate road cam TR65PT2Y with an 2TY grind, which piper suggest 12 thou valve gap but the triumph book suggest 10 thou, should I go to 10 thou? or should the engine sound a bit tappetty? Not had a triumph engine before so not sure what it should sound like. Cheers

Hello GSouthee,

set the tappets to the clearance specified by the cam supplier. After market cams often have different clearances than Triumph specified so that is quite normal.
It is better to have slightly loose clearances than tight as this ensures that the valves seat on the head and are less likely to burn. Just ensure that the oil is getting to the rockers.

Cheers for that, will need to a few more miles then reset the tappets and pull head down a bit. The engine is running extremely well and feels like it should pull well once run in. Certainly better than the original AC engine.
