engine dieing on left hand turn
This is a wierd one ...when we do a tight left turn the engine loses power...doesn't cut out ...only does it on a tight left turn ..as soon as you straighten the car up it picks up again..any thoughts

Re: engine dieing on left hand turn
Is it whilst maneouvring, or during 'normal' driving?
I see you have a Mk1, but has it had power steering fitted?

not whilst manouvering...and it depends what you call ''normal driving'' but it's whilst driving above average speeds
no power steering...running an electric pump..even does it when pump set to 5psi...modified tank...fuel outlet is bottom right, rear side

Re: engine dieing on left hand turn
Some years ago my car would occasionally falter when cornering AND braking, I wondered if it was down to the brake servo at the time - momentarily changing the air fuel ratio in the inlet manifold, and I do have power steering fitted. As the engine began to lose power the steering wheel was snatched from my grip as the castor action tried to straighten the wheels. I never really got to the bottom of it but I did increase the tick over speed to keep the engine spinning as I shifted to neutral when changing down for the corners.

That is weird widget.
So does the power cut out completely or is it a hesitation?
I'm thinking either; electrical short or fuel starvation.
I rally a 2000 and you sometimes get a heat related hesitation but not just on left turns so the electrical short scenario sounds more obvious.
Is the battery in the engine bay or in the boot?
If its in the boot what else have you got in there?

Re: engine dieing on left hand turn
Look at the wire from the loom to the coil. I had exactly this on a PI and that wire was faulty at the coil connection and on LH bends the wire was pulled as the engine moved over a bit!
Cheers,
Mike.
