engine mounts

#1 Post by widget » Sun May 17, 2015 4:48 pm

having been out today , autotesting, one engine mount failed and the other nearly did.i'm of a mind to find stronger ones
i remember seeing somewhere that some one had used ..i think it was a mount from a mini, and with a slight bit of modification it fitted and was stronger.can anyone shed any light on that ..or have another solution?

I know its your decision but can I ask why do you want or need a stronger engine mounting? I have had Triumphs for 35 years and some for nearly 30 years and have never had cause through failure (or because of the MOT man's wishes) to replace an engine mounting!

You obviously haven't replaced any engine mounts in the last 5 years — they're made of butter these days.

maybe stronger wasn't the best word...but as james said some of the current ones aren't good ..these ones aren't that old....i can't load the pic here as it's too big
it's only the cars second event of the year..and we've got another in 2 weeks . just looking at options for a better quality of engine mount

I agree James - I haven't had the need or cause to in the last 35 years, never mind 5!! I have spares, but they are all original and packaged Stanpart, which would be my choice when the time comes.

These must be worth a punt at the price......not listed as Triumph/Jaguar/MG etc but the same as our cars.

Use the ones James tracked down - a must for competition - stanpart ones are great on the road but can't handle auto testing especially with a LSD
I know - I have ruined excellent NOS ones experimenting. The ones James has are also fail safe so engine doesn't escape even if they unbond - think they are a kitcar part
