Holiday time at the Nationals 2014

#1 Post by andyborris » Tue Mar 25, 2014 5:35 pm

I guess like others, we're taking a week in Bamburgh, but what to do or see in the days before the real fun starts?

Here's my idea.

The site at Wooler common is a 30 minute drive from the campsite, so I'm hoping for at least one clear night.

Any other suggestions?

Andy

I've always wanted to visit Beamish museum village, and just over 50 miles from Bamburgh, it looks like the basis for a nice trip out.

On one of the few sunny days in summer 2012 i visited Beamish and would give it a gold star rating, the trams, mines and edwardian streets were all great.imo, well worth visiting en route to the national,
cheers,

Sue Watson has informed me that there is a programme on BBC starting from Sunday at 8pm called - " Border Country- The Story of Britain's Lost Middleland" which covers the history of Northumberland - might give a few ideas?

The group has plenty organised and I'm really looking forward to it - I quite fancy a trip to Beamish too!

Perhaps a group visit could be organised and our cars parked in a small display, could be of interest to other visitors :?:

Sounds good Andy, Amanda is quite good at pointing out the constellations to me, but light pollution here makes star gazing difficult.

So people want to go to Beamish. We can do that. If we get 15 people to go we get group rates. It's about 60 miles away from Bamburgh so very do able. The museum is very interesting and very hands on so well worth a visit. Great for the kids as well. Cost would be £11.50 and £6.50 at group rate. If you would like to go we'll add it to the itinerary and I'll book a group visit. Get back to me on triumph2500@yahoo.co.uk ASAP. Otherwise all looking good for Northumberland 2014. Looking forward to seeing you all
