Am I missing summert? are there any individual parts like hens teeth? I would have thought £100 would have been enough.

Also says something (not sure what!) about Triumph's confidence in the cars reliability, with head gasket and valve springs in the kit!

Back in the days (50s/60s) most manufacturers provides a 'continental touring kit'. This was when taking your car abroad was like taking it to the moon! I think there was a general distrust of foreign garages and their capabilities as well as getting spares, hence putting a kit of spares together.

I know that when my family went to France back in the 60s (when I was a mere whipper-snapper!) we took a Bedford (Vauxhall) Spares kit with us for the Bedford CA motor caravan we had. It was on sale/return so when we didn't use it, it went back to the garage. I bet it didn't cost >£1k though! Apart from bulbs, I don't think we ever used anything from the kits.

I don't think it said anything about the reliability of the vehicles, just about individuals confidence!

Cheers,
Mike.
