Hi all, Looking for Mk2 front door check links please mine don't seem to actually DO anything the car came with a spare which has obviously broken and been welded up, I think that welding will alter the spring steel properties maybe wrong, Has anyone else had problems?.Thanks.

The front door check straps are not intended to stop the door from opening too far - this is achieved by the door hinge itself. The door check straps merely put the 'spring' into the door when approximately in the half opened / closed position.
Remanufacturered replacements are available - both fronts are the same; it's just the rears that are handed.

Thanks for the reply, Looking again this morning I'm wondering if its the door that needs adjusted rearwards as the gap is quite tiny and the strap is actually missing the roller.

I will make or obtain some shims to improve the door gaps.

I used to have a late 2500S that had factory fitted shims behind the hinges. None are fitted to my other Triumphs.
Just be mindful that as this will effectively move the door back, the rearmost section of the door frame will be nearer to the stainless B pillar trim cover, and any slight play in the hinge pin, i.e. if the door has dropped, may result in the rubber fouling the cover, and folding over on itself, especially if they are remanufacturered aftermarket versions.
