Hello from the USA, 2500S Estate owner

#1 Post by bergxu » Sat Aug 11, 2018 3:22 pm

Hello gents,

Wanted to introduce myself to the group here, I'm the proud owner of what I believe is the sole 2500S Estate in The Colonies. It's a '75 model which I purchased in the UK and imported earlier this year. The old reg was KPK 833P. The car is kept company by a 1980 Dolly Sprint which I also imported from the UK, as well as a totally original NAS spec TR6 which I've owned for many years and a '73 Stag. I'm very excited to have the Estate as it is such a rare bird here, let alone in England! The car is in very nice condition and had been owned by a Mr. Peter Barringham in Sheffield for many years. It underwent a fairly extensive restoration some years back with photographic documentation and has a nice sheaf of bills in the history file. It's color code 19 Triumph White over Black interior. Don't know if anyone here knows or knew this car, but she's found herself a good home Stateside  so my apologies in advance for having snatched her out of UK rotation!

Here she is in the driveway, Dolly Sprint in the garage. Mind, I've got garage space elsewhere so none of them are ever out in the elements except on club days or for a drive!

Looks a very presentable example! As you say estates are getting quite rare here in the UK, so to see one in the USA now must be exceptionally rare sight!
There are a few white saloons knocking around here, but estates, no. White estates seem to be few and far between.
If you haven't already considered it, I think you would get a lot of useful and invaluable information about our Triumphs from the award winning bi monthly magazine of the Triumph 2000 Register, SIXappeal. It would also be good to have another US member! (I don't know how many we have at the moment, but it won't be many!!)

Welcome to the forum plenty of help on here if you need it. Seems everyone buying estates lately and yours does look very tidy. Makes me feel I need a new acquisition. Hmmm I wonder if he has sold that Valencia Blue mk1 Pi estate I went to view a while back. It is very addictive owning triumphs should come with a health warning. All the best Ross.

Thanks gents, I do plan on joining the club as I'm sure it'll be of great help to have the resources I'll need to keep her on the road. Fortunately it seems Rimmers have a decent stock of parts as well as Chris Witor. I've had to order some things already such as a proper fuel tank as the car was previously fitted with LPG when it was in England and so a smaller petrol tank was fitted at that time. Luckily I see it uses a Stag tank so a new one was duly ordered up from Rimmers and is awaiting fitting.

I'm sure the car will garner lots of attention wherever it goes and so this winter a few more small jobs will be attended to before next year's round of shows and gatherings begins!

Cheers,
Aaron

I should think a 2500s estate will be a real talking point with the citizens of the USA.

TR6 specialist(s) in the USA should stock go faster bits if you so desire (the 125 cam, lightened flywheel I can attest to).

Do a post once in a while to keep us interested folk in the loop.

cheers,

Kev

Thanks Kev. I'd no doubt have gone for some mods if the car weren't so nice and unmolested, but as it is, I think it's good to keep this particular example pretty stock. I was considering bringing another one over and doing what you say--what with hotted-up engine internals and maybe triple DCOEs and an Ansa Sport exhaust. I'm a Ferrari/Maserati mechanic for a living so I'm no stranger to things that scoot!

So the lpg explains why the spare wheel is strapped to the side of the load bay. Assume that it will return under the boards when the tank is re-fitted.

Hi Charles,

Thanks for the welcome and most certainly the spare will properly be relocated once I've fitted the new tank.

Cheers,
Aaron
