Hi There

#1 Post by peewee21 » Sun Dec 07, 2014 10:16 pm

Hi,

I am new to the saloons but not triumphs, having restored a GT6 to concourse and a Del Lines TR8 Drop head, (before it got written off in a multiple pile up on the m25)

Been away for a number of years but looking to try and enter the round Britain reliability run and thinking that a big saloon would be ideal. However my knowledge of these cars is limited and i have no interest in buying a money pit. though always willing to restore if worthwhile.

Hence joining your informative forum and hope to join the club in the new year

all the best
Ian

Hi Ian,

Welcome to the forum and to the Register in the new year.

There are a lot of very knowledgable people here on the forum who will I'm sure be pleased to help. There are also a number who have done the RBRR in a big saloon as it does seem to be the best car to do it in.

Good luck with your search. Good examples are hard to find but still out there - somewhere!

Cheers,
Mike.

Hi peewee21, Welcome to the forum, there are quite a few people in the know here, and as I don't live too far from you, can give you a few pointers with the big sixes, I have a 2000 estate and a couple of us have some good sources for car painters and welders etc.
I could help if you have any 2000's you maybe interested in to look over it with you?

Hello Ian,

I'm in Whittlesey so must be quite local to you too. I've run the big Triumphs for about 45 years, and used to maintain several for friends and relatives. I've also had five or six pass through my hands on their way to the breaker's yard.

If ever you'd like to chat about their weak points and good points, and perhaps take a look over my quite nice example (1972 PI converted to S spec, and not for sale), don't hesitate to drop me a PM. Being long retired, I'm at home most days.
