G'day From Aus

#1 Post by SiennaTC » Mon Sep 01, 2014 3:09 am

G'day,
Jeremy here from Australia, joined up to the forum a few months ago. There are some very nice Triumphs on the Forum/Register. Wish I was a bit closer so I could enjoy them and have access to all the great spares and upgrades. I would look at joining the register not sure how many Australian members there are?
I have had Triumphs on and off since 1997. At the moment I have got one good running and registered car a 73 TC in Sienna (rare colour in Aus). It needs a respray but is in pretty good condition otherwise. I also have 4 other cars which are only good for parts.

Welcome to the forum, there will be many of us in England looking at your 'only good for parts' cars and wishing we had access to what look like rustfree shells and panels like you do in Australia.
I see that your car has a pi dash with rev counter, is this something you have done or was that from the factory?

Thanks Colin.
You are half right there. The yellow car on the left is rust free and will be restored. Ive actually moved it into a shed so it stays under cover. The others are actually pretty rusty. Sills, front guards, c pillar etc.
I added the PI dash when I brought the car although its an early one and misses the brake warning light. It also had a stuart warner tacho and I changed that out for a smiths one. I have since added an S steering wheel and wheels.

Gday Ken,
Im in Hobart.
No suppliers of parts here as such but there is a very good mechanic that ive been dealing with since '97.
Vanguard Triumph in Melbourne are good for any parts I dont have.

Thanks Dave. Yes about 4-5 days I reckon it would take. You have done the trip yourself?

No, unfortunately not. Just an inspired guess. As I have said to Ken in the past I would love to visit Aus just for the roadtrains and to see some live NRL, preferably at the ANZ Stadium!

I confess to have done Sydney to Perth in 39hrs - Coast to Coast. Not sure I'd try it again in any car now I value my licence a bit more - that was in my 71 PI with 3 drivers - non stop except fuel 3950kms
