Hi all I've just joined the Register as I'm on the lookout for a nice estate
Have had a Spitfire, Herald Estate and Herald saloon in the past (in that order) and my Dad bought a GT6 Mk111 new in 1971 for the princely sum of £1200! Sadly my Mum gave it away after he died - don't know if it still exists (WDU997J)
Currently living in Hampshire, I was born and brought up in Coventry, about 1/2 mile from the Canley factory. When I was a kid we used to climb over the railings to play in the playground at the social club on Tile Hill Lane.
Any way, I know it's a longshot, but any one know of a decent estate out there with my name on it?
Many thanks
Jim Lodder

Re: Newly joined
Hello Jim.
Good to know you've joined the Register. Hopefully it will help you find the estate you are after as well as giving any buying and running advice that you might then need.
I checked the registration number of the GT6 in the Vehicle Enquiry section of the DVLA site (http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/index.jsp) but nothing came up so the car either no longer exists or is tucked away somewhere without a SORN or tax disc.
Regards,
David.

Hi Kevin
Not far from you - Greatham (between Liss and Selborne)
Where is your narrowboat? My neighbours have a narrowboat on the Basingstoke Canal.
I've had a look at the estate on the classifieds - unfortunately can't get over to that side of the country this week, but might give him a call anyway.

Re: Newly joined
Hi, Jim - no, not far at all. You're welcome to come to the group meetings, held with the TR Register (see SIXappeal for details). Our boat lives near Rugby, almost everyone else who keeps a boat in the same marina seems to either have worked for Standard-Triumph, knows someone who did or owned a 2000 or PI at some point. I suppose withion a 25 mile radius of Canley, that applies to just about everyone!

Will have more chance of getting mk2 as mk1's rarely come up for sale.
