Alan - is the item you alerted me to on ebay a few weeks ago a direct replacement? I ask as the set I finally got was not :evil: A combination of shorter pins and thicker cups = no chance. For now just to keep things moving I have replaced the rear brakes with my old set up. I would rather not wrap things up with the rear brakes using my aged parts. And as C.W has sold out.....

I thought it was, it's what I bought for mine and it fitted. To be honest, the originals will very likely be fine as once the brakes are in place they carry very little stress as the drum holds everything in place. The pins are to aid in location.

A quick check in the parts manuals should reveal if Stag and 2000/2500 brake shoe retaining pins and washers are the same?
Unfortunately, I am a few thousand miles away :D from mine currently so I can't check for you. I would have thought Stag pins would be slightly longer, given the fact that the shoes are wider than the 2000/2500's, unless the position on the the backplate where they locate has a recess to compensate.
Forkie, how badly corroded are your original pins? I would have thought they would do they job sufficiently with no detriment, unless they are so excessively corroded and therefore obviously weakened.
If yours are so badly corroded and you are really struggling to get a set of original pins and washers, I will definitely have some - either new or very good used, so just let me know.
