Hello all! An update on the progress on the PI. Work has commenced again after a having a break whilst being a parent for the first time so I thought share the progress.

Here are the repairs to the drivers side floor.

The metal is very thin above the outrigger.

Image

Image

Ive cut out the rot. I ended up cutting out even more on the left due to material being to thin and would probably corrode fail in time.

Image

Fabrication of the new repair section

Image

New metal in situ.

Image

All welded up.

Image

Next was a small repair in the boot.

Image

Image

Brazed intersection of panels replaced.

Next task i've made a start the passenger sill.

Thats all updates for now should finish the sill over the weekend.

Hello all another PI update. Thanks for your comments, this week tackling the inner arches.

Image

From last post the sill is now fully welded just throw in another picture completed.

Image

I’ve formed the closing-splash panel roughly ready for a fit up.

Image

Few screws and clamps in place for the fit up and tried the wing not for the first time on this operation.

Image

Happy with the fit the wing comes off again I’ve hammer formed the arch sections. The first section I forgot to take a picture so here is a picture of the second section.

Image

Image

Tacking the splash panel and arch section more wing fitting.

Image

Fabrication of the lower section

Image

A few cups tea later and a fully welded inner arch.

Image

Image

Still a bit more work with the body file and planishing to iron out the bumps. The flange :D will be cut back when the wing is fitted. Next update the other side and few more cups tea required.

Very impressive! Not having ever welded, I am amazed at the quality and fit of the panel sections you have formed, and the attention to detail to ensure the correct profiles! Excellent!

My 10 pound wing of ebay seems to fit, banged out a dent out of the lower sill covering section, bit more work needed on it but it will get there.

So that it for now, what's still left to do always got planishing grinding and work on the nearside rear arch and sill. Might be a few weeks on this so I will post when it is all finished. Thanks for viewing the posts and the comments.

Some work on the n/s rear sill and floor

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

View of the sill closing panel which was fabricated along with the floor, 2 inches of the inner wheel arch and a bit of welding on the suspension arm circular swage fixing point.

Image

Update as The pi seems to be sliding down the project list.

Couple of days with the heat gun and aircraft paint stripper.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Hello all another update bought some epoxy mastic and painted the underside and now masked the seams for the seam seal application.

Image

Image

Image

All new applied seam sealer inside the car and the boot area with epoxy coat over the top.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Next job have some rubberised stone guard stuff to put on, a small mile stone the car can come off the rotisserie yay!

Wings in position with self tappers. Alignment of bonnet needs attention, may have to try another bonnet before I start playing around with the brackets. The near side corner of the bonnet is riding up slightly where it meets the front panel.
