New update been a while. I've have been busy I have checked over the engine and serviced where necessary. it's s quite a low mileage car but I have checked the bores and bearings all looked good so new gaskets and ancillaries fitted, new core plugs in the exhaust side and lick of paint. I've made an engine stand for storing it while other things are going on.

I'm amazed at the attention to detail. It's really good to see that you're doing such a fantastic job. I hope I'll be able to see the car 'in the flesh' in the future. Keep up the good work, and keep posting!

Re: Barn Find Triumph Pi
Hello everyone I have a small update on the PI, just been sorting out boxes of fixings and parts which I have labelled thankfully and I have made a start. The brake lines and fuel lines have been fitted along with the sound proofing on the bulkhead on the inside, this being upgraded to a thicker modern neoprene material along with all the floor mats. The engine bay sound proofing I have decided to leave off really due to the deterioration of the material. When I removed this material there was rot in the bulkhead which has been repaired but suggests the sponge holds water from the outlets to the heater intake. The wiring loom is in place and will probably need shifting around a little. The lights and grille are installed.
I really appreciate the interest in the project really helps to keep the momentum going.

Excellent, inspiring work!
Seeng the gearbox cover plate, did you fit new cage nuts? My PI's were rusted solid and I had to drill them out...

Re: Barn Find Triumph Pi
Hello Jim, I did manage to remove the cage nuts successfully. They were smothered in the factory bitumen coating which probably saved them to an extent. I have had a lot of the unique fixings and other bits yellow passivated which took a
long time at the Platers. I think it was 8 weeks! I didn't even enquire about the time to chrome bits. In the time the platers had mine and my Dad's Pi bits and bobs I bought a plating kit on eBay. Plated bits so far: window wiper bracket and mechanism cover and the cage nuts for the gearbox surround and radiator. The clear passivate I've had good results with, the yellow however is bit hit and miss and experimenting is still in progress. I'll post some more pics after the next plating session.
