Looks like a fair amount of work to get that solid, well done for saving it.

Cheers lloyd! Yep it was year and half ago and it went from one barn to another while was finishing some other cars body work. I Went to Essex the same day it was listed and paid him there and then. I'm really pleased with it, loads of bits missing like a petrol tank and interior, but helped out by a fellow member I have these now.

Hello Colin, it does look sorry for itself especially as the last tax disc in the window is 1983! However, there are bad bits and good bits. The chassis rails are sound as are the rear spring mounts and surprising the inner sills are intact where they meet the floor pans. The boot has rotted where the breather pipe exits other than that the boot is good. the dissapointing bit is where wet mud has been trapped between the fuel pipe and floor underneath the back seat, this has suffered but not the end of the world. I'm going for busy weekends and evenings now there are more daylight hours.

What also looks good is that the sills look to be original so it's probably has not been messed about with in the past.

I wonder where you got it from in Essex. Just interested being an Essex boy myself!

Cheers,
Mike.

Hello Mike the car was located in Saffron Walden in barn which had a leaky roof, how much of the rot was caused by this I’m not sure. The car has had no welding. I would assume it failed an MOT with holes in the sills and then given to the farmer by the owner as he had one as well. He told me it belonged to a banker, better spell that right! It's only done 48000 miles but these cars rust and no one is the same from the short time I've been working on them. I'm going for sympathetic repairs try my best to get it good, but you never know what your opening up.

Hello all this is where the bananas for a barn find begins!

Can't stop the rot

After carefully unpicking the sill which seem to take longer than the fabrication and cutting the sill with the thinnest slitting disc there lies rot.

The first fabrication to the inner sill. Happy days, so far.

Hi Ross, I also have a Valencia pi with a weathershield roof and strangely it was originally a banker's company car. Nice work btw, I love the rollover jig too.

Great pictures-not seen that area at the base of the inner wing before. Good to see how it all knits together. Good luck with the project-looks like you're off to a flying start :)
