#1 Post by Higgies2K » Fri Mar 27, 2015 7:19 pm

Thing my project may need a bit more TLC than I originally envisaged !!! (photos to follow)

Could do with some info though ....

Engine Number .... MB34887HE

Anybody know anything about manufacture dates etc?

Thanks

Looks to be built around sept/oct 1965. First car produced jan 66 was circa MB40000.

Thanks Colin. Car was first registered end Fed 1966, so that would appear to be about right.

First car recorded on the database that I have as built in 1966 was MB32XXX recorded as for South Africa.

Paul's car I do not have details for so if Paul wants to PM me the full details for my Mk1 database it would be appreciated. I need:
Index Number, (VIN and engine which I have), Body No. (on the ovalish plate riveted to the suspension turret), build date (if known), paint and trim colours/codes, transmission,, any changes (engine, transmission, Index number etc.) And any other info that may be of interest (rally car, famous owners etc.) and name of owner.

Unless advised otherwise no info will be disclosed that could link a car to an owner or its location, and if asked to not disclose any specific info that confidentiality will be respected. Personally having it recorded on this database I have no worries about disclosing the full info of my cars in public because it provides security should some low life wants to nick them, or decide they want to build a fake (they will know the car already exists).

Anyone else who wants to send me this sort of info it would be gratefully received. This database has not got a lot of info on cars that currently exist - it is largely cars that have been made and were interesting to note, or the info is old and the cars have passed to new owners or been scrapped..

Stage 1 this week

Clear stored goods off car so I can see it 8)

Put front suspension and steering rack back on so that car can be rolled out of garage and properly inspected

Photo relevant plates an numbers so these can be sent to "Ted" for his data base.

Then if all looking good, start thinking of how to get a car approx. 250 miles home so that it can be restored :x

Stage 2

Get car home!!

Day one of project ..... uncover car :)

Generally body looks good apart from a couple of rust areas (wheel arch edges and front of 1 cill)

Found most parts!! (see photo) and told that rest are about somewhere!!

Some bits (front wheels) are supposed to be in the boot, which is locked ad the lock has seized after 40 years in storage!!

o'well see how things go rest of week in getting the car so it can be rolled out of the garage :) fingers crossed

PS Colour 15 (Cactus) Trim code 12
