If you are fitting a front wing there are two ways to do this:-

1. cut a hole in the inner wheel arch ( as one done on my MK1 PI) and spot weld that way.
2. weld from the headlight panels.

Either not an easy task.
Believe the whole front end was assembled as one at the factory

It looks like we're going to be able to do spot repairs as most of the rust is on the arch lips or down near the front of the sill. I'll just cut out a section at a time and let in new steel. We know of a spares saloon not far from here that might yield some useful panels to cut up for repair sections.

Quite a few Triumph related clubs around who can help with bits.

Hi Tony - We are in Nelson. Alex already has a Triumph search saved on Trademe! We'll also join the NZ Triumph Register at some point soon. Whereabouts are you?

I'm going to make some time next week to have a good look over the car and write a list of bits I might need.

I'm up in Wairoa, Hawke's Bay.
I thought the Register had more or less folded in NZ. It certainly has in Hawke's Bay some years ago. Many of us ex members are now members of Hawke's Bay British and European Car Club which is an off shoot of previous Triumph and Daimler clubs. The club was formed when numbers of participants dropped making individual Clubs unviable.

Hi Tony - That's a shame about the Register. Alex and I are members of the online forum oldschool.co.nz which caters for all old cars and there are plenty of British cars on there and quite a few Triumphs. Actually we will be up in Coromandel at the start of March for their National meeting in our Vauxhall Viva and will drive home via the east coast so perhaps we could catch up with you on our way through?

If you're around here on Sun 5 March, our club has our annual "Wheels on Windsor" classic car show at Windsor Park in Hastings. Well worth a look. Normally about 200 + cars attending including lots of Triumphs.
