Ouch ow ow ow ouch!

#1 Post by Alan Chatterton » Mon Sep 08, 2014 5:58 pm

Despite almost finishing my 5 year restoration of my estate, it's been a while since I've done any serious spannering work.
RBRR prep on my co pilots 2.5SU (ex pi on carbs!) started yesterday with a quick clutch change. Rusty bolts, seized exhaust, snapped manifold studs, uncooperative gear lever etc etc, but got it done in a day.

Today, I hurt in places id forgotten existed.

Am I getting too old and inflexible for this malarkey, or just out of practice?!

Thoroughly enjoyed it though!!

Experience tells me the older you get the aches increase  Been laying on my back for many weekends now while putting my S back together. The pain goes away after a couple of days. I'm not looking foreward to pulling the diff out (next job) to replace the seals and stop the leaks. I'm 74

Fred Wedlock.

It is a line from "Oldest Swinger in Town" along with other gems like "do your teeth all glow in ultra violet light"
when we owned our narrow boat, which had a Russell Newbery engine, we were members of the Russell Newbery Register who organised a rather jolly rally / beer and cider festival every year. fred was the entertainment at one event just before he died.

We have one of his albums somewhere. Probably on vinyl! It has that song plus loads of others too. When we were in Exeter in the mid 70's, he was one of the entertainments. Most enjoyable!

Cheers,
Mike.
