The Latest Acquisition!

#1 Post by Mike Stevens » Fri Apr 24, 2009 9:43 pm

Hi All,

Here is a picture of the latest acquisition as it was being strapped onto the trailer.

Another project, more work and why do we do it? I don't really have to ask here do I?

Hopefully more pictures tomorrow if the rain holds off.

Cheers,
Mike.

I'm with Alan, even the polish might be unnecessary for the time being, just get out and enjot 'Julie' while the weather is nice :D

Well, yes, it does look stunning but I'm afraid that is a bit skin deep only. It currently has no MoT and needs welding to the front RH chassis, the flat bit to the side of the gearbox and also a bit in the front of the RH rear wheel arch, neither too bad though.

It also has some other issues, the engine is difficult to start, runs unevenly and has poor pickup - I'm wondering if it has poor fuel pressure. It could also do with some new coolant hoses. However, it's been well looked after for the last year by Gerry, (a Register Member I believe) and has had quite a few new bits fitted in that time (SS exhaust, MU, carpets etc). Today I toe-dipped by fitting a new LH engine mount!

Anyway, here are some more pictures taken today in the sun!

You can just see the 2000 in this one too!

And the back of the Herald rebuild in this one.

Thanks for your kind words!

I've also remembered to edit my Signature block too.....

Mike,

Have you seen the film 'Bank job' with Jason Statham, a p.i. in that colour features a fair bit in the film, being used by one government department or another. Good film actually.
Second lot of photos still show a very nice car IMHO :D

Nice one, Mike! Excellent colour, as well...

BTW, look carefully at 'The Bank Job' and the Triumph in fact reveals itself as a 2000 tricked-out with PI wheeltrims and grille. Still worth looking out for, however... :)

Regards,

Jonathan

Hi Lee,

The Caravan is a very old (1971) Sprite Alpine. It was inherited from my parents and has sat where it currently is for some time now. Emptying and getting rid of it is yet another job I have to do!

I too like the colour. This PI is the first Triumph I've had in that colour.

I rang CW with an order yesterday for some bits for it. The plan for the long weekend is to do the couple of bits of welding that are needed. I think I'll have to roll (or drive!) the Herald out of the garage so I can get the PI in there for the welding. Here's hoping for a dry weekend! The rest of the mechanical stuff I can probably do outside.

The current plan is to get it sorted for an MoT so I can then drive it to a) find out what needs doing and b) enjoy it! Oh, yes, and then polish it!

Cheers,
Mike.
