Hi All,
Hope you all had a Merry Christmas.
I am hoping someone here can help with a query concerning 2000/2500 automatic. I need to know the exact thickness of the flex drive plate and the backing shim fitted with it. It would help immensely is some could help as I have some machine shop time booked on the 3rd Jan and require those dimensions.
Also, what is the difference, if any, between the 2000 and the 2500 flex drive plate?
Are they interchangeable?
Thank you in anticipation.
Paul

It's fairly quiet on here Paul, you might get a quicker response if you posted on one or more of the Facebook groups catering for our cars. Mine are manual so I can't help you.

Re: Help with 2000/2500 auto
Hi Paul.
May not be much help as I cannot help with the shim but ive been out to 'the store' as I knew I had a GSH flexi plate, somewhere, for my Auto. According to my digital vernier, the thickness at the center hole is around 7.2mm, taking an average at certain points all the way around.
Also, according to Chris Witor's website, it would appear 2000/2.5 auto are the same as he makes no ref to them being different.
Regards,Forkie.

Re: Help with 2000/2500 auto
Cheers Forkie,
Sorry to quiz you, it would be so much easier if I had a flex plate to measure.
What I'm trying to establish is the dimension between the crankshaft flange face and the torque converter. I'm don't know what a GSH flex plate is, but I guess it has a flanged boss. So the dimension between the two would be more like 3 - 4mm. Would you be able to measure that please. Paul

Re: Help with 2000/2500 auto
Hi Paul - no, unfortunately my flexi is an original type that is all flat ,i.e. no raised center boss. I bought that before I learned a little bit more about these cars, and so it will never be fitted as they are a weak point /prone to cracking from the center hole outwards due to the slimness of the disc. Mine still needs changing so I will be purchasing the strengthened version ( with center boss) from Chris Witor . Sorry I cannot help you more, but it may be worth giving Chris a ring, I'm sure he would be happy to help you with dimensions etc if he can . He only takes calls though from 8 am - 10 am on working days and as you are on a tight timeline for the 3rd, I would imagine you would need to ring in the morning....(Friday).

I have a flexible plate which as Forkie says apart from the ring gear flange is a flat plate across its diameter. I will have an auto spacer block/ distance piece (part no 152252) which I could not put my hands on today, but may be able to find it tomorrow and check how thick it is.
