Mk1 wider track/stance (mk2 running gear)

Hello there,
I recently bought a mk1 and I understand a lot of people put mk2 running gear on as that widens the wheels/stance and therefore the wheels fills the arches better (not for the purist of course) but I certainly prefer that look.
What is required to be changed on the front and rear to get the wider stance?
Thanks
Sal

The front is the same, and the rear needs Mk2 trailing arms and driveshafts. Quite easy really.

Thanks Charles although thought the front hubs were wider? No?

Hello Sal,
what Charles posted is correct but I would add that the handbrake cable needs to be extended. I made up a steel strap which bolts between the horseshoe shaped cable link and the main cable, This worked well for me and was very simple to do.

Alternatively, would it not be as simple to fit Mk2 handbrake cables whilst everything is being disconnected? They are available quite cheaply.

Hi if you fit the mk2 wider track set up you will then struggle to fit wider wheels even 51/2" tr6 wheels tyres will more than likly foul the rear arches, just to let you no
