Gearbox/overdrive question
Any thought on this question folks??
——————————
On the left hand side of my box (if sitting in the car) there is a slot where I believe the speedo cable goes but nothing is there to attach it to! Is there a gear that attaches to the box that the speedo cable attaches to? What’s its name? And if anyone had a part number that would be great
As always.... many thanks in advance.
Sal

Re: Gearbox/overdrive question
From memory the attachment is a circular threaded affair with a 2 mm square section in the centre for the inner cable to locate. This is on the left of the tail section. As Johnnydog says, a photo will help!

Re: Gearbox/overdrive question
Evening all
Photo as requested. So I’m guessing there is something that attached to the box that then attaches to the cable. What is it and what’s it called.?
Thanks

Re: Gearbox/overdrive question
Hi Sal, yes that is the speedo cable attachment point. The inner cable locates in the square drive of the drive gear visible in the centre of the hole. The outer cable has a stepped flanged collar held in place by a forked clamp secured by the visible bolt adjacent to the hole.
This the type of cable you need. There are different types depending the gear box, but this the one for manual non overdrive. The end on the left side of the picture is the gear box end, part no GSD140 available from Chris Witor.

Re: Gearbox/overdrive question
Ah ha that makes sense ..... so I have the correct cable for the car but as I have a non overdrive box in the car I need a non overdrive cable.

If you haven't already got one, the forked clamp looks something like this....
