Hi just noticed a bad oil leak from j type overdrive gearbox rear seal has gone is it possible to do oil seal in situ? tia dave,

Not a big job. Drop the driveshaft, undo the big nut holding the driveshaft flange on and remove. hook the seal out and replace. Make sure the running surface on the flange is not too scored, clean it up with a bit of emery cloth.
If you have a nyloc nut probably best to replace it with new and retorque to the figure in the book.
