front wing to top panel joint

#1 Post by herald1360 » Sun Jan 28, 2018 2:27 pm

Hi all
The joint between the top panel and front is rusting again.
I have repaired this ever 6-7 years but it always fails, I've used flexible seam sealer, chemical metal body filler and plastic body filler. Also zip wheeled and sand blasted the joint before filling.

Has anyone got a permanant solution to this problem?

This is good don’t clean the rust out it needs it, or can go on blasted surface prep.

Then seam seal

Hope it helps

Hi,
this is only my personal experience,
after cleaning the seam as much as possible with a rotary wire brush I painted plenty of jenolite on-working it into the seam. When thoroughly dry I filled the seam with classic metal body filler but not quite flush to top of the panel, normal primer and cellulose paint to finish, my car does not see a lot of rain and it has been ok since 1994 when I did the restoration. Oh, I also did a lot of waxoyling under the seam as well.
I hope this helps.
Michael.
