Hello
I keep reading that rebuilding a rear hub is a job for pros, but I'm sure that folk here must've done it successfully! The left one on my PI feels fine, but is rumbling at high speed...
What kit and specific advice would one need?
Thanks!

Hello Jim,
a heavy duty puller with a thick flat plate adapter to bolt to the hub (Other types risk distorting the flange) or the use of a heavy duty hydraulic press. The hub is usually very tight on the shaft. A Dial test indicator (clock gauge) and two large thin spanners for the adjustment nuts (I made my own out of 1/8" sheet steel and some tube.)
If the end float is adjusted too tight then the collapsible sleeve will need replacing and another attemp made, don't just back off the adjustment.

Not being a defeatist Jim, but I would be tempted to just replace the whole driveshaft with a known good secondhand unit. I do not think it will be too difficult to source one - many Triumph owners will have some, I'm sure - especially those that have broken 2000/2500's during their years of ownership!

I thought the Datsun (180B) conversion only concerned the driveshafts, not the hubs

True, just a thought though while they're apart.
