Diff Parts

#1 Post by Joe » Wed Apr 14, 2021 7:46 am

Hi, Need some information on doing a rebuild of my 77 2500TC diff. Hade it inspected by a diff specialist and he informed me it needs a complete rebuild. My question is where to get parts C/Pin seem no problems but things like the planetary gears are not. However the Bros seem to have more parts for Stag diffs do they fit? CW does not seem to have many bits contacted him and he confirmed this. So where else, have not got a comprehensive list yet.
Thanks Joe

The 2000/2.5, Stag, and TR5-6 ranges all have differentials sharing the same basic design (Standard-Triumph 'Large Car'), but with lots of detail differences across models and years of production. Accordingly, you may find the bits you need from a TR or Stag specialist, but I am afraid that you will first have to identify each part by number from the factory parts catalogue for the 2500TC, then cross-reference it with the supplier's own list to see whether their particular item for the Stag or TR is also correct for the saloon...

From my own past experience, I have found Moss Europe useful for various engine and transmission bits also used on the six-cylinder TRs. Mick Dolphin is also worth a try for hard-to-find original Triumph parts.

Thanks for reply, gave Diff Guy OK to strip it and work out which parts it actually needs. His first assessment was from removing the rear cover and bench testing it.
