I dont know what you are prepared to pay for a good manual S, but this seems to be worth a look, a South African spec 2500S.

In the long run a lot easier than faffing about with gearbox swaps and the like!
Whilst there are no close up photos of the weaker areas of our Triumphs or the underside, I must say that this particular car definitely looks a worthy contender.......with its relative unique South African history too!

Interesting car but no PAS or Alloy wheels? Also it has earlier type seat belts and they look like Halogen headlights, but the latter is not a bad thing these days. Whatever, a tidy looking car.

I have no knowledge of SA build specs so my comments may not be relevant. However, I'm not sure I'd be too keen on a car with 'Leyland' on the back!

Cheers,
Mike.

Did you find your ideal car yet?
I converted an early MK2 2000 to S spec which was a little more involved than converting a 2500tc. I even went to the trouble of changing it from a manual to auto.
It does seem to be revving its nuts off at 70 though even with the 3.45 diff and 14" hi profile tyres. My only giveaway that it isn't a genuine S is the rubber blocks wiring connection, chassis number, 2000 badging and leather seats............Hmm quite alot really
