OK, small typo. YB not BY.
I stand corrected.

I am looking at the original log book for my Mk1 registered FBY**3D. The stamp adjacent to the first owner details is Greater London Council NW but the stamp under record of licences issued is GLC SW. The issuing officer stamp says Greater London Council (SW). The car was supplied new to Doves of Wimbledon and the first owner lived in East Sheen SW14 neither of which are north west London. So BY is definitely Greater London whether it's NW or SW is not clear from my Log book. It's definitely not Croydon as someone thought as this is South London.
Regards, Stuart

Croydon would be SW London, sadly I fear JW's geography is a little off.
Incidentally FRanK was Croydon registered and RK.

Not my geography - just my dates!! A little further digging shows that BY was issued by Croyden, but only until 1965. From 1965 to 1974 (the advent of the DVLC) BY was issued by the Greater London Council which probably covered several Boroughs within the London area. Obviously a 'K' reg Triumph was post 1965, so it's anyone's guess where exactly it was issued. Just standing my ground in this now well off thread debate....!

This reference table looks to be accurate enough for pre 1974 registrations...........

Just had a look on the Triumph 2000 Register cars database, it belongs to a current member and is alive and kicking in Gloucestershire!!
