One to make you smile.
My motor was on the ramps for about a few days recently while I did some floor repair work before MOT. I noticed the mice had been in and chewed up an old towel I had in the back, but didn't think much more about it. But last week a kitchen roll on the back seat was shredded up – Funny I thought, no holes in the floor now and all plugs back in. Turns out they had taken up residence and built a nest in the rear of the back seat.

Many years ago, my wife insisted on putting out nuts in a 'hanging bag' for a treat for the birds. Not being one for encouraging birds to feed in the garden because of the inevitable bird 'plop' ending up on your newly washed car, I was amazed how quickly the nuts disappeared. Thinking we had extra hungry birds in our neighbourhood, and dreading the possible large 'deposits' on the cars, the mystery was solved when one day I saw a squirrel scurrying across the garden from the direction of the the hanging nut bag, and disappearing round the front of a Vauxhall Cavalier that had been laid up for a few months (you can tell how long ago it was....!). Intrigued as to where the squirrel was going with his stolen nuts, I eventually found his stash stored under the bonnet between the bulkhead and suspension strut! There was quite a hoard of them, and fortunately no other damage such as chewed wiring or insulation. I somewhat guiltily removed them, and stored them nearby, thinking that my new squatter was lucky he hadn't had a dice with death had he been on board if I had chosen to start the car up......
He never re appeared, and I sold the car a short time later.
Relating the story to my wife of how close he came literally to a 'close shave' because she had been encouraging visitors, meant my wife stopped putting nuts out for the birds, and I ended up with cleaner cars.....result!

Perhaps it was the thought that if she carried on you might drive her nuts!

Must be to keep their nuts dry
