lost 2.5S

#1 Post by JonnyB » Thu Dec 31, 2015 3:20 pm

Hi Everyone
I last posted back in 2008 (I know it's been a few years) in pursuit of a Honeysuckle yellow 2.5 S Auto I sold back in 1998.At that time my efforts drew a blank but Alan kindly replied to my initial post.
The car was registered and is still on the DVLA website as UJD 202S .It is showing as last taxed etc back in 2006.
The car was sold via a main dealer at auction in my home town of Hull and it was spotted in the area for a while afterwards but then it seemed to fall off the radar.
I am now retired and filled with renewed enthusiasm! and I really want to trace the car so thaat hopefully I can get it back and restore it .I am pursuing the car further via the DVLA but i suspect they will not be able to disclose the cars whereabouts because of the Human Rights Act or something.
I also intend to post an appeal in the local newspaper with the hope of at least picking up a trail.
If anybody out there knows anything about the car or has any tips about how to track it down I would be very grateful,
Happy new year to all.
Johnny

lost 2.5S

The only thing you can do is, for a fee, the Dvla will pass any letter on to the current registered owner.
There are other dubious ways of doing this. If you have reasonable cause, the Dvla will issue you with owners details but that is aimed at accidents and parking issues. Might be dodgy!
I have checked the mot history and it ran out in 2006, and at its last mot it had reports of rot in the seatbelt mounts and Spring platforms, so it may not be still around?

Thanks for the reply Alan. The MOT findings, as you say are worrying but I am hopeful that that the car still exists.
I will post when I get a response from the DVLA route re it's existence and/ or it's state of repair.
If the car had been scrapped wouldn't it have been taken off the DVLA database altogether?
Regards

Only if it was scrapped properly. But if it was just broken up for spares then probably not.
Hopefully, it's tucked away in someone's garage.
I have the same problem. I want to find my grandfathers 2000. Mallard green auto XCU888M as it was this that got me started. No trace found of it.

Hi Folks
Back again after a break in pursuit of my previously owned 2.5S UJD 202S .Think I have managed to track it to the Ipswich area in 2004.It was owed apparently by a member of the club.Does this jog anyone's memory as to it's existence and or current whereabouts.
Any info would be gratefully appreciated

Hi. If you still have all the cars details, maybe you could check where it was last MOT'd. If so get in touch with the MOT center as they may have the owners details.

Thanks for this tip. From the Gov website I can see that it's last mot document number was 5813 9634 5390 but not sure how to track this to an MOT station.Any ideas?

On the MOT history, they no longer supply details of the garage that carried out the test. They used to do - I have used the garage details in the past to try and establish missing sevice history entries on more modern cars (not Triumphs!) as a lot of people got the car MOT'd at the same time as having a service, but sadly this info is no longer available to anyone doing a MOT history check.
