Charles - it may only be a few nuts and bolts (and a heavy thing to drop) but it's also x number of hours I don't wish to repeat :)

Umquat - my wheels are only 1mph out at most from the standard wheels - same as you.

My speedo is dead anyway - or the cable - and it was wrongly calibrated after changing to the manual gearbox.

My 2000 estate had a 3:45 diff. It was very (painfully) slow on acceleration, used lots of fuel, on the motorway 3rd gear was often required for hills! It went very fast down hill though!

I did get the diff to work well in the end. I fitted a 2500 PI engine - now that cured all the ills (and it even uses less fuel).

3:45 diff for a 2000? I don't think so Alan!!

Am I right in thinking the standard diff in a Mk2 2.5PI AUTO is a 3.7 ? If so, I have one. Its still in the car, but I am converting to MOD so will need a 3.45 diff........

No, Biffo, the PI had the same 3.45 differential for both manual and automatic, Mk1 and Mk2.

Only the Mk1 2000 had a different diff for manual and automatic versions, 4.1 for manual and 3.7 for auto.
