Rubber floor mats

#1 Post by sprint95m » Wed Oct 21, 2020 5:26 pm

Anybody able to help please?

I am looking for a front rubber footwell mat as sold for the mark 2 models.
Condition not important.
Part no. NKC 570

Alternatively, less likely I know, a pair of good used ones.

thanks,

Ian.

Are you wanting 2000 or Dolomite mats? Bearing in mind this is the 2000 Forum!!
I don't think that you have got the correct part number if you want the original Mk2 2000 rubber mats - according to the original parts book, Mk2 rubber tailored fronts (set of 2) are part no. 576410, and rears (set of 2) are 576420. This is also confirmed in the 1972 Showroom Fitted Options brochure.
If you are actually after Dolomite mats, Mick Dolphin has them listed (as Dolomite mats). It's an old parts list, but perhaps worth giving him a call in case he still has them.
Incidentally, I have had my eye open for genuine rubber mats for the 2000 for years now, and I have never come across any new or good used ones. Any that I have come across have usually perished in places.

Only found rears so far. The company Cannon Rubber Manufactures dad says the company was based locally to us in Tottenham, Ashley Rd.

These are listed as mk1 571294, don’t know if they are the same as mk2 I've only ever seen these.

The original cannon tailored mats are the ones I have in the majority of my Triumphs, both Mk1 and Mk2. They are the same shape in both models. The floor dip switch in the Mk1 isnt affected by the mat as they don't extend up the footwell far enough to obstruct it.
However in my Valencia 2000, I have a pair of Triumph logo'd rubber mats that I bought from the TR Register when they had a stand at Stoneleigh in the mid 90's. They have BL UK Ltd, GAC603 and 'Item 588 Made in the UK' moulded in the rubber on the edge. They fit the floor / footwell very well, not quite perfectly, but without looking like a 'generic' mat.
In my S, I have a pair of more 'universal' type of Cannon mats in the front which I bought in the mid 90's; being shaped for a footwell, they fit the floor pan of our Triumphs more or less perfectly. They have a discreet red Cannon moulded badge on them, with 'Item no.154' moulded on the rear.
The important aspect is being a snug fit - mats that float around the footwell because they are too small or a poor fit are annoying and more importantly are dangerous in my opinion.

Thanks for the replies.

NKC570 is not listed in the Dolomite or Dolomite Sprint parts books.
Have ordered a pair from Mick Dolphin.
They are actually for a 1500fwd (which has a narrower transmission tunnel
than a Sprint).

I am thinking of commissioning a version for the Dolomite range back footwells.
If my friend can do this he will also be able to make T2000 ones.....
once we come out of lockdown I will be able to advise

Thanks
Ian

This is an interesting post,i have a couple of sets of 571294 in my collection but due to the fact i have what at the time was fancy Britax seatbelts the reel of the front seatbelt is mounted on the rear footwell so i,am unable to fit the genuine mats without cutting them about, which i wont do,so i have a small pair of Cannon mats fitted there,as for the fronts 571293 i have never owned a set and if i do find some will pay a good price for them....but the rears seem to still appear ever so often.
