Early MK2 overdrive gear lever wanted

Does anyone have an early Mk2 overdrive gear lever that they would be willing to sell?
It is the short gear lever - later Mk2 models were fitted with the longer lever.
Ideally with good chrome :D
I don't mind a swap with a longer lever if that is preferable!
Thanks,
John

Hi John,

Did you get this sorted? If not, I'll have a look to see what I've got!

Cheers,
Mike.

I've not had any response Mike!
If you could check, it would be very much appreciated!

OK, another reason to get down to the stores shed! I think I'll wait until it's stopped raining though.

Cheers,
Mike.

Hi John,

I found 2 gear-levers this afternoon, one even still had the spring and plunger in it! However, I'm not sure if they are the 'long' or 'short' ones, but I think they may be the latter.

Cheers,
Mike.

Hi Mike,
I have measured the two gear levers - the later / longer gear-lever from the start of the threads, to the top of the 'ball' it is approx 8 1/2" measured in a straight line rather than following the curve of the lever.
The old (rusty!) earlier / shorter gear-lever is approx 7 1/4".
I need the shorter version.
Hope this clarifies the difference!
Thanks,
John

Hi John,

Interestingly, they both measure about 8.5"! And I thought they were short ones. This measurement is from the very top of the little step above the ball to the lower end of the gearknob threads.

I've taken so many cars apart in the past, I can't believe I don't have some more somewhere. I'll have another look.

I am spending quite some time in the garage at present as I've got stuck back into restoring my 1949 Land Rover. A lot of the original parts are dated, the oldest I've found so far is the fusebox (with just one fuse!) which is dated '11 48'!

Cheers,
Mike.

John,
I may have one I'll have to dig around in the garage etc. But it should still be there. Are you at the National. If I find it I'll bring it along.

Chris

Hi Chris,
If you have one, that would be great!
Yes, I will be at the National - wouldn't miss it for anything, especially as it will be my 32nd consecutive one!
Is it the Damson PI or your Mallard Mk2 this year?
Thanks,
John
