I have a gearbox tunnel insulation in good condition which I could bring to Stoneleigh on Sunday. If you want me to bring it, pm me.

You can get new bulkhead panels for the Stag. I don't think they are available for the Saloon. You might be able to get a sheet of it and then cut out you own?

I don't the the transmission tunnel sound deadening is available new, as that is a moulded item and thus expensive to remanufacture.

Yes, you can get new bulkhead trim pads for the Stag, but they are not the same quality as the originals, (what is these days?). I fitted a new one on the Stag rebuild in 2012 and it went on and looks OK, but is much lighter weight so won't be so good at soundproofing.

As an irrelevant but perhaps interesting aside, Mk1 Stags had the 'underneath' gearbox sound cover (solid material not plastic bag full of wool) but the Mk2 Stags had a horse hair pad under the carpet inside the car. In 2012 I didn't know this so paid a reasonable amount for a used underneath pad to fit to my Mk2 (or Mk1.5) Stag. Luckily the fitting clips are all there so now it has both types fitted! The underneath type make gearbox removal even harder though.

Cheers,
Mike.

Now I did'nt know that  , I'll have to look under my 1972 late MkI and see if it has one fitted to the transmission tunnel. I but yours is uber quiet if you have both fitted.

Yes the repro ones are pretty lightweight compared to the OE. But my OE ones were knackered. Stag has internal and external bulkhead panels as well.
