Hello everyone,
I'm changing the diff on my mk2, PFL (Nov 1969) saloon, and I'm taking the opportunity to change the rubber mounts as well. Can anyone confirm what the correct order is for the mounts, I have bought from Rimmers 4 x thinner flat rubber discs as their website states 4 req'd all saloons, and of course I have the cones.
My car at the moment has one thick rubber per side, in thickness it equals 3 of the Rimmers thin ones. Also, the thick rubbers were fitted above the diff, Witor's website places them below the diff. I dont't doubt Chris's site so have mine been in the wrong position ? Over the years I have not experienced vibration issues in the driveline.
So I'm not sure what to do with the Rimmers thin mounts, or where to place them. I don't think the Rimmer's site takes account of pfl/fl differences.
Thanks if anyone can solve the puzzle,
Michael

Re: diff mounting bushes
Looking at the official parts book, changes in the diff mounting bushes occurred at chassis no. ME 19199, so maybe that's where the discrepancy lies with yours being an early car? I've attached photos of the relevant pages for your info...

Re: diff mounting bushes
Thanks Johnny,
those images are just what I needed. My parts book is for 1975 onwards and it seems difficult to get a book exactly for the year of my car. I have for now gone with Chris Witor's website pics and on test drive I can't feel anything amiss. Having said that I only drove 4 miles to Rawtenstall, never over 30mph ! I need a long fast run to check for vibration, get the oil hotter/thinner, and to see if my 2nd hand axle is any good.

Re: diff mounting bushes
I think I would have stuck with the accuracy of CWs website rather than the other one you mentioned!!
The pfl bound parts book up to 1974 is a lot harder to find and rarely crop up for sale, especially in good condition. There was of course the late edition of the earlier beige coloured ring binder parts book which covered the the Mk1s and also continued into the early Mk2 models before it was changed to the bound type, which maybe worth keeping an eye open for.
