#1 Post by Rod 2500S » Wed Sep 18, 2019 6:08 am

gday all
I can't get the rear handbrake cable threaded adjuster through the tubes in the rear suspension/diff carrier
The Haines manual is not useful on this procedure (LOL)
Are these tubes removable???
any clues lads
Cheers

No you can't remove the tubes, you need to remove the adjustable clevis & nut from the threaded end of the cable and, starting on the nearside, push the cable through the tube, then around the compensator (horseshoe), then back through offside tube.
PS, Before you refit the cable, clean out the tubes as best you can, they will be full of crud & dried grease!

If the cable hasn't been adjusted for quite a while or off at any time, it is likely the threaded end will be solid due to crud and corrosion. I would soak it overnight with PlusGas or similar, and then grip the square nut inside the clevis with mole grips, release the lock nut, but then using another pair of mole grips on the hex shank of the cable, turn both to release the threaded end from the clevis / nut. The cable shank requires a 1/4" spanner so a small pair of mole grips will hold it better.
Grease the cable where it goes through the tubes and compensator, the threaded end, along with the guide and threaded end of the front cable on reassembly!
