My 1968 2000 has a single line brake master cylinder. I have put new seals in it today and there is no seal for the check valve in the kit. I have checked and can't find a kit with one in any where. Even on CW site the kit comes with no check valve seal.
It does not look it's best and I wondered why there aren't any and what to do. Can anyone advise?
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
I'm not exactly sure which seal you are referring to. I am aware of the 'trap valve' or sometimes referred to as the 'check valve' (part no 502747), but the parts book does not show a seal specifically for this part of the kit.
I have got boxes of seal kits for all the hydraulic parts of our Triumphs, so if there is indeed a specific seal, I may well have one.
Any chance you could take a photo of the old one, and email it to me, even or Whatsapp it to me.
John.

Re: MK1 Master cylinder seal kit
Hi
The white part in the kit that came is a later check valve apparently, originals are no longer available. So I infact have the right kit. Only thing is which way round. Do the little feet on it go towards spring or other way around?
Jeff

Re: MK1 Master cylinder seal kit
Haynes doesn't mention item 2 in the notes, but shows it apparently with the feet pointing towards the spring. Autobooks uses the same diagram, but poorer quality, and only describes the check valve insert as going at the front, larger end, of the spring.
I remember encountering this some years ago, and either must have concluded that it was obvious (does it seem to fit the wider end of the spring better one way round?) or phoned up Chris Witor. Sorry, can't remember.
