Hi all
I have just dismantled my front suspension, a strut insert was leaking.
Comparing the size of the new and old strut inserts, the new ones are about an inch shorter and a smaller diameter. Will this cause a problem?
Any advice gratefully received.

Re: Front struts
Hello Paul,
I would say so, the diameter is not important but teh insert should be clamped tight by the strut nut. Where did the insert come from. If you do want to us ethis insert I would suggest the easiest way is to pack the bottom with a series of suitable diameter washers to make up for the shorter insert.
I have always put some engine oil in the strut to help conduct heat away from the insert.

Re: Front struts
I would be tempted to return them to Rimmers rather than start cobbling together a fix. It's not that they are difficult to find or source elsewhere if need be.
