15"Wheels on a MK1 2000

Planning on buying new wheels for my car , I do like the Idea of 15" minilite style alloys or I may go down the TR6 steels root. I would like them to fill out the arches a bit and so they would need to have a biggish offset . Looking at wheel sites they specify an ET number to match the car however I feel that in the case of the Triumph they wouldn't be out set enough for my liking. What difference would it make to the car if the wheels had a bigger offset to fill out the arches more. The TR6 steels seem to have a big offset and look great on the 2000 as I've seen in a few pictures . I'm sure not all you guys are running standard wheels , I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

It can definately be done, a few cars on Instagram have got 15s. Your biggest challenge is the rear arches, as being flat they will restrict how wide you can go/what et you can get away with without rubbing. They also look a bit odd with standard ride height IMO. 14s look a bit better if you're not going slam the thing

Some food for thought, although they are all Mk2s -

14x9s - https://www.instagram.com/slammed2000/

15s I think - https://www.instagram.com/triumph2000_/

Mine with 14x6.5s, no idea of the ET thoughly sadly. I bought them from a chap who'd had them on an AE86 Corrolla. I used the Chris Witor fast road springs to get it sitting better.

Bit tight back there! They only fit due to the natural camber from lowering the car.

Dave B on here has 15" minilites on his 2500. He may be able to give you more info when he reads this topic, even though you want them for a Mk1.

I have 15" x 5.5J Moss replica Minilites (GAC8225X I think) with Firestone 195/60/15 tyres on my 2500, they are a 'snug' fit in the rear wheel arches, ie you can't get a finger between the wheel arch and the tyre at normal height, but I've never had any issues with them fouling the bodywork. I use a 15" TR6 steel wheel with the same size tyre as a spare.
