Steering rack oil or grease

I've had issues with heavy steering on my 71 non PAS 2000 for a while, one of the reasons being a steering wheel that was too small, a Dolomite one that has now been replaced with a 2500S wheel and improved things greatly. There are also new bottom ball joints going on this weekend as they are knocking slightly, while I'm under the car doing this job I'd like to check the steering rack lubrication, is it oil or grease filled?

Grease for the nipple on the rack.

Check the top mounts of the struts. They can partially seize. The first 2500 I owned felt like driving a Leyland bus. Found top mounts had seized and the rubber was turning on the housing.

Also from experience, check the steering column universal joints.
