Sorry, Chris, that was a long time ago and I didn't read back.

Hi Chris,

I have finally got down to the shed. I have (at least) 3 water pump housings there complete with top radiator hose connections, but all of them are the later version with no space for drilling and tapping.

However - my PI is a 1971 car and it does have the blank bit which could be drilled/tapped. I could swap it over for one of the plain ones I have as I haven't had any thoughts about modifying it. I won't be able to swap them over for a while though as I'm going to be away from next week until the end of March - and I'm busy until next week!

What sort of timescales are you looking for? Would early April be OK? If so, we can PM re timescales/costs etc.

Cheers,
Mike.

Mike,

Thanks for getting back to me. In the meantime, I have sourced one (for £10) off eBay. It needs drilling and tapping which I’ll document here.

Hi Chris,

No problem. I'm glad you're getting it sorted. That's one less job for me then!

Cheers,
Mike.

Umm Mike, when the eBay special arrived it was so tatty the lip for the thermostat inside had eroded away, that it’s useless

I don’t suppose you have found yours by chance, I am back in the market for a good one.

Hi Chris,

I'm out of the UK at the moment, not back home until the end of March. The housing on my 1971 PI is the correct one for what you want to do (I think) and I have a number of later ones which can replace it.

I'm happy to swap them over on my PI and send you the original PI one when we get back - if you can wait that long?

Cheers,
Mike.

Hi Chris,

OK, you'd better remind me nearer the time!

Cheers,
Mike.
