I have seen similar. Using such a device allows for the fitting of a larger and or more accessible oil filter. Also using a remote filter can mean that you can orientate it better - less draining back - so the filter does not empty when the engine is turned off..

Hello Steve I really like this filter set up. It seems very much like an oldschool ripspeed item that you would save up your weekly YTS money and blow it all on your car mods. The only thing that cocearns me is the hose connections (jubilee clips). I'm sure the metal hose connections are flared but there is something reassuring about crimped fittings, however anything can happen with them I suppose. I'm thinking of removing the metal connections and tapping the holes and using these fittings which are going to cost the same as a spin on filter, is it just a pie in the sky idea and just go with the original setup.

Hi Ross, really like the look of that! Could you braze your fittings on to the four inlet/outlets,then get a pair of hoses made up at Hydrasun or Pirtek?(other hose manufacturers are available   )
Pirtek will be able to do a rubber braided, or an outer braided/Goodrich type.
I did kinda the same thing in the early eighties, when I changed out the auto box for a MOD.I then cleaned out the redundant trans cooler, brazed on two fittings and had hoses to suit the adaptor, using it as an oil cooler.
Just a thought,I'm sure you will come up with something of merit!!

Good Luck!

Early 1980's solution to the oil filter problem with our cars. Dave Bradley Engineering if I recall.

Superseded by the mocal Chris Witor solution with machines boss to fit spin on filter as direct replacement.
