Why not get a quote from a sheet metal bashing firm, source bolts and washers (or whatever) and post a price to the forum and see if members would want one. Probably better for airflow underneath the car and as such should reduce drag and petrol consumption (only by a tiny amount I know).

cheers,

Hello Lee,

you've asked for the picture of the Triumph made guard, but it is not suitable for rallying, at least as Triumph made it anyway. It is more complicated than Darren's, which from the evidence works well?

Hello Lee,

OK, Darren's pictures seem quite clear and a relatively simple fabrication. When you say 8mm, I presume that's going to be in Duralamin, not steel?

Hello Alec

Im trying to save weight so alloy it is. Theres 150 kgs in the roll cage. So every kg counts. Not running bumpers etc.

Hi lee

For your interest I too have been trying to save weight wherever possible. However, I have tried running without the sump guard on for auto tests thinking that It would improve the power to weight and this would make all the difference. I hadn't taken into consideration how much structural integrity is lost when the guard is removed. The cars handling is transformed, so I now leave everything on and have decided to lose weight myself!

I wondered what rally series you're thinking of doing? sounds like stage rallying. Unfortunately you have to keep bumpers on on the historic HRCR series. They ran MK1s without bumpers as well on some early stuff but that makes no difference on the HRCR regs. They do look good without the bumpers especially the MKIIs

Hello Dazzer

Although the car will be HCRC spec car i wount be doing the events well not untill my numbers come up. We are doing stage rallying but at clubman level. There is a new historic championship starting next year but the cars dont have to have the same level of spec. Its aimed at at the clubman. Consisting of 6 gravel only venues. I will also be doing my locals ie dukeries and premier stages.
